Rubbings with Leaves
For these rubbings I took sheets of colored tissue paper and pressed out the folds with a cool iron. I placed the leaves with the veins facing upward and I used the side of a small stick of oil pastel to capture the shape and texture. The tissue paper is a bit tricky in that it wants to shift around and can easily be ripped. For small children it is probably easier to use tracing paper. Remind them to hold the leaf in place while they rub. And, of course, one of the best parts is taking a walk and picking the leaves.
